Visual Art

Creating art is an active process during which students take risks, solve problems and make connections. They use their imaginations to organize many seemingly unrelated pieces of their knowledge and experience into creative and unique pieces of art. This process encompasses the most exciting aspects of the art experience.

Music

Music is an academic discipline which has a language of its own; therefore, music is an essential part of thebalanced curriculum. The discipline learned in the music ensemble experience transfers and supports classroom learning in all areas. In particular, this discipline provides continuity of learning in areas such as spatial relationships, sequencing, logical thinking, language development, and creative expression.

Theater Arts


Drama is available to all grade levels within the middle school. The focus is to provide an overall vision of dramatic structured through improvisation, theater games, and monologues. Students receive general instruction in theatrical communication of articulation, vocal projection, and body use. Students perform short scenes and reader’s theater scenes. When appropriate, video and film are incorporated into the activities as they are extremely career specific to the west coast entertainment industry. The culminating activity is a performance during the Middle School Arts Celebration.
