Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees, composed of parents and community leaders, has a primary responsibility to work with the Head of School to carry out the vision and mission of our school, and to ensure our school’s financial responsibility. The Board has the responsibility for the effective implementation of the policies it institutes.
Sub-committees of development, finance, and facilities give the Board information and support.
Classroom Volunteers
Classroom volunteers in the primary grades enjoy helping teachers and their assistants on a daily basis. Parents are able to get to know the faculty and their child’s classmates in this manner. One may find volunteers helping to prepare for special projects, reading to the children, or supervising group table work.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
All Pegasus parents are members of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) which meets monthly and sponsors many committees that take an active part in the inner workings of school life. The PTO does the following:
- Fosters communication among parents
- Promotes school spirit through special events
- Enhances the curriculum through fund raising
Room Parents
Two room parents in each classroom assist the faculty with special events throughout the school year. Whether organizing gatherings for students before school begins in the fall or planning a class party, room parents are an important volunteers at our school who enrich the entire school experience for our community.
Special Event Volunteers
Special events and school traditions such as the Jog-a-Thon, Spirit Week, Grandparents’/Special Friends’ Day, Spring Benefit, End of Year Party, and Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week, among others, are always engaging for our children and well orchestrated by talented, hard working and caring individuals.
Library Volunteers
Parent volunteers are one of the most important resources to the Pegasus School Library and there are many opportunities. The Library not only relies on parent volunteers to help keep its collection in good order, but it also needs parent volunteers to help with the annual book fair and Elizabethan picnic. For parents who can only help a few times a year, there are also opportunities to volunteer during the Women’s History Day celebration and the Battle of the Books program.
