Every year, applications open on September 1 for entry in the following year. There is no priority for applying early, but it does allow you more time to complete your application and flexibility in scheduling. Applications are due by January 4 and the supplemental forms are due by January 15. 

Offers are made at the beginning of March. However, occasionally after the first round of admissions, we may reopen applications for select grades. You may submit an inquiry at any time.

Children must be 4 years old by September 1 for PK.

Children must be 5 years old by September 1 for Kindergarten.

*Our overall campus capacity maximum means not every class can be filled to max. All availability depends on the number of students leaving in a given year.

For PK, Kindergarten, and Grade 1, we start with a one-on-one assessment.  If those preliminary scores show potential, then candidates are invited back for a classroom experience.

For grades 2-8, candidates take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).  Once we receive scores, candidates may be asked to come for an interview, shadow day, or meet & greet with grade level teachers.

The application includes a Parent Questionnaire, and families who visit campus for a tour have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a member of our Admission team. These conversations are informal and are not a required or formalized part of the admission process.

Campus tours are optional, and we are always happy to connect with families who are unable to visit campus. Please reach out to the Admission Office to arrange a conversation.

There are a few things you can do to help your child feel comfortable with the process and show their true potential. While not mandatory, attending the Open House with your child in November is recommended as it can help some children who are hesitant in new environments. Our assessments for PK to Grade 1 are cognitive based and and we find that traditional tutoring doesn’t give the student an advantage. However, willingness to try even when unsure and the ability to stick with a challenging task are essential skills that help children perform better on assessment. 

We consider all parts of the application to be an essential part of our holistic review process. Test scores are only one piece of the puzzle. We use test scores as a starting point, but it is also important for us to know what kind of citizen the student is and how they are performing in their current school and what parent expectations are for their child’s learning.  

We receive students from over 30 preschools. The best preschool is where your child is happy. Things to look for are schools that will teach your child how to get along with others, how to maintain a routine, and that learning is FUN!

Parents are encouraged to share testing by outside agencies with the school so that we may partner to best support children. Children with a diagnosed learning need, who also meet our criteria for admission and ongoing learning benchmarks, are supported through a Pegasus Education Plan that outlines classroom accommodations and support by on campus professionals. Our environment is not set up to support children in need of 1:1 support from an instructional aide or ABA professional.

Each child is unique and therefore siblings go through the full admission process. If they are candidates that will thrive and be successful in our program, then they are given priority dependent on availability. 

We only place students in our waitpool if they have fully completed the application process and we strongly believe would thrive in our program. Unfortunately, due to limited capacity, we simply do not have enough seats available for every qualified applicant. Please note that our waitpool is unranked; when a spot opens, we review the entire pool to fill the specific opening and maintain balanced classes.

While the majority of our students find us by word of mouth, we have a holistic approach to admissions that ensures each student is evaluated on their own merits and the family’s alignment with the school mission. To ensure that our process is fair and equitable, we do not accept letters of recommendation from family friends or co-workers. 

We do not accept donations from families who have children in the application process. Once a student is attending The Pegasus School, there are many different ways to become involved in the community, through volunteering or philanthropy.

All students are expected to meet their own residency requirements as we do not offer I-20 visas.
