One Community. At Pegasus, we believe that a successful education is the shared responsibility of students, educators, parents, and administrators. Morale, satisfaction, and performance are enhanced when people work together. Our community encourages the growth of our children through a rigorous educational program delivered in a caring environment; through opportunities that provide service to local communities and through engaging in activities that promote ways to become conscientious citizens.

  • Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees, composed of parents and community leaders, has a primary responsibility to work with the Head of School to carry out the vision and mission of our school, and to ensure our school’s financial responsibility. The Board has the responsibility for the effective implementation of the policies it institutes. Sub-committees of development, education, finance, and facilities give the Board information and support.

  • Parent Volunteers in the Classroom

Parent volunteers in the Lower School enjoy helping teachers and their assistants on a daily basis. Parents are able to get to know the faculty and their child’s classmates in this manner. One may find volunteers helping to prepare for special projects, reading to the children, or supervising group table work.
  • Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

Every parent is a member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), which sponsors many committees that take an active role in School life. The PTO provides programming aimed at the following:

    1. Enriching the Student Experience
    2. Supporting Teachers and Staff
    3. Helping to build the community in a meaningful way
  • Room Parents

Organized by the PTO, our Room Parent Coordinators and Middle School Liaison volunteers are your greatest source of information for just about everything. They are the information link between teacher and parent, and PTO and parent.
  • Special Event Volunteers

Special events and school traditions such as the PTO’s RUN.GIVE.SERVE., Grandparents/Special Friends Day, PEG LOVE, and the Spring Benefit are always engaging for our children and well orchestrated by talented, hard-working, and caring individuals.
  • Library Volunteers

Parent volunteers are one of the most important resources to The Pegasus School Library, and there are many opportunities to volunteer. The Library not only relies on parent volunteers to help keep its collection in good order, but it also needs parent volunteers to help with the annual book fair and Elizabethan picnic. For parents who can only help a few times a year, there are also opportunities to volunteer during the Women’s History Day celebration and the Battle of the Books program.
