Since 1979, Camp Pegasus has been offering students in pre-K through eighth grade the unique opportunity to explore their interests in a joyous learning environment filled with play, exploration, and hands-on activities.
Curious learners are nurtured and challenged by experienced, passionate teachers who design creative and dynamic learning opportunities. Throughout each two-week session, pre-K through fifth-grade teachers reinforce foundational skills in subjects such as reading, math, and writing—all while engaging and involving each student. Campers also have the opportunity to learn through enrichment in athletics, visual arts, music, and more. At the middle school level, students continue developing these skills by focusing on individual subjects that interest them.

Bring your adventure spirit and join our journey around the world as we explore the art, languages, and customs of countries circling the globe. Go on an expedition to Iceland and discover the glaciers, geysers and lava fields and watch the spectacular Northern Lights. Say "Hello" to the many animals on an African safari, and surf the Gold Coast of Australia. Visit the Eiffel Tower and stop by the leaning tower of Pisa. Pack your bags and join our great world adventure!

MATH AROUND THE WORLD

Math skills will be honed as students use their knowledge of mathematics to calculate, measure, and solve problems while playing games from all around the globe! Through compelling math play, children will gain confidence and have fun as they learn about the different ways people around the world measure, count, and use patterns and symmetry in their everyday lives. We will do creative projects that make a natural connection between math and art and use maps and historical information about the countries represented in the games, blending social studies, art, and geography with mathematics.

If you love to tell stories and enjoy creating beautiful works of art, then this is the class for you! Explore the arts of creative writing and illustration. You will have the opportunity to create your own story and write a book of your very own. But that's not all...you will also illustrate your book using traditional techniques like watercolor or oil pastels, or you might decide to go digital. Let your own creativity be your guide. When this session comes to a close, you will have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind masterpiece to take home with you. WRITE-ON, and discover the author and artist in you!

Let your imagination shine! Explore your creativity while experimenting with various art materials. We will enjoy drawing, painting, printmaking, textile arts, sculpture, and more. 3, 2, 1...Blast Off!! Be ready to explore space as we learn about the planets, moon, gravity, our own special planet, as well as some famous astronauts. We will be reading, writing, and even doing a little moon math. Who knows? We might even find an alien life form! Get ready to explore!
THE ART OF SCIENCE

Most people see art and science as polar opposites, with one rooted in data and the other in creativity and expression, but they are really more alike than you’d think. In this exciting class, we will use the scientific method as we explore just how connected these two disciplines truly are while producing beautiful pieces of art. The scientist and the artist in you will have an incredible time exploring, inventing, investigating, and creating as we dive into the incredible art of science!

THINK. BUILD. PLAY.

Some of the best learning comes from within, and in this class, campers will be in the driver’s seat! First, we’ll dream big and generate ideas for our creations. Next, we’ll move through the innovation process, building our creations using a variety of different materials. Then, we’ll play! From roller coasters to cardboard houses, race cars to water rockets, students will have a blast bringing their ideas to life.
90 SECOND DOCUMENTARIES
Instructor: Kari Daniel
Students learn about the power of film as they write, film, and edit their own two-minute documentaries. Learn how to organize images, audio narration, and special effects into a short motion picture while staying faithful to the images and writing a historically accurate script that provides a reliable account. This is sure to strengthen students' reading and writing skills as well as how to source reliable historical information.

YOUNG ARCHITECT: A BLUEPRINT FOR GEOMETRY
Instructor: Kari Daniel
Learn real drafting skills as you recreate your house or design your dream home. Practice and master mathematical skills in a real-world setting by designing and drawing a house to scale. Students will gain skills in measurement and geometry as they plan layouts and draw blueprints. They will also design and build a scaled tree house and will learn the CAD system Tinkercad to create and build 3D models.

DEBATE
Instructor: Laura Cavener
Debate is one of the best educational programs available for middle school students. Learn how to debate through the following methods: identify and cite credible sources; evaluate pieces of evidence; organize your thoughts; prepare arguments with logical reasoning; evaluate and understand issues from more than one perspective; think critically; and speak in front of a group with confidence and conviction. Students will have the opportunity to understand and enhance these lifelong skills. The course will be led by Mrs. Cavener, a Pegasus debate teacher. Several former Pegasus debate team members and highly successful high school debaters will be on hand to help with instruction and judging practice debate rounds. A two-week debate camp is roughly the equivalent instruction to half of a debate season. Join us and gain valuable debate experience!

Take a trip with us as we travel to the world’s jungles and let’s explore the wonders to behold in this exciting environment! Campers will go on an adventure through the jungle where they will be inspired by the colorful animals that live there, learn about their habitat and ecosystem, and imagine a world so very different from our own!

CAMPERS HAVE S'MORE FUN!

Whether you’re a camping enthusiast or a novice, this class will enrich your understanding of camping in the Great Outdoors. Come learn about the history of camping, the creation of national parks, and the science behind s’mores! We’ll listen to and write campfire songs, plan a camping trip, identify animals based on their tracks, and more. You can even come to class dressed for a camping trip!
IGNITING WRITING
Instructor: Melissa Cosio
This class will provide students with the opportunity to refine and strengthen their writing skills. Students will construct paragraphs in various formats, focusing on writing opinion/argument, informative/explanatory, and narrative pieces. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, students will learn to identify the key features and purpose of each text type and support them as they practice writing in each of these forms. Students will become aspiring authors as they turn their words and ideas into stories, and get to share their creative creations with fellow classmates.

Once upon a time, campers spent the summer immersed in various traditional and twisted fairytales. They will get the chance to put their own spin on classic tales and write their own original fairytale. And they all lived happily ever after!
PASSION PROJECTS

A Passion Project is a student-driven independent study. It is an opportunity for your camper to investigate the answer to a burning question he or she feels passionate about answering. Campers take ownership by designing their projects as they become creators rather than consumers of knowledge. They are in charge of their learning, and the teacher serves as a guide. These projects integrate reading comprehension skills, note-taking skills, and writing skills. More than just learning research skills, Passion Projects promote creativity and innovative thinking. Campers learn essential life skills such as planning, decision making, persistence through overcoming obstacles, problem-solving, time management, and personal reflection.
CYCLE SCIENCE

"Everything Turns, Rotates, Spins, Circles, Loops, Pulsates, Resonates, And Repeats." - Poetry by Suzy Kassem ~ Join in the fun as we discover and explore different scientific cycles. Journey to the center of the earth as we look at rock cycles. Dive into water and matter as we explore the water cycle. Investigate some of the smallest creatures through observations of the insect cycle. Hands on experimentation and learning will abound as we discover the natural phenomenon of cycles.
VEX GO ROBOTICS

VEX GO is a robot kit designed for students to learn the fundamentals of STEM through fun, hands-on activities. Students will build from directions to understand how the parts work, then students will continue to free build and engage in various open-ended building challenges. CSI MATH MYSTERIES

We need you! Join our team of math detectives to solve an array of CSI Math Mysteries. Learn to decipher the clues to unlock the Mysteries using pre-Algebra; fractions, decimals and percentages; area and volume; and so much more. Our adventures will take us from King Arthur’s Court to the Pharaoh’s Tomb, and we will encounter gnomes, aliens and escaped animals from the zoo. Bring your curiosity and sense of adventure to solve Math Mysteries throughout the ages!
SUMMER SPORTS FUN

Let's have some fun this summer playing some of our favorite sports! Campers will learn the rules and enjoy playing a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, pickleball, volleyball and other fun games and activities. Collaboration, teamwork, sportsmanship, and kindness will be emphasized throughout the session along with the fundamentals and an emphasis on having FUN!
VEX IQ ROBOTICS
Instructor: Kathy DeBest
Students will build a robot using the VEX IQ robot kit. This robotics kit contains structural pieces that snap together, gears, sensors, and programmable motors. We will build prototypes to understand the difference between speed and torque gear ratios. Students will then go through the engineering design process when they create their own unique robot design. In class, we will also teach students how to program their robot to move autonomously on a game field around an obstacle course.

CARDBOARD ENGINEERING

Design, Build & Create. There is no limit to what you can create with cardboard. A bicycle, furniture, a marble slide, whatever your imagination can dream up. Get ready to think like a Meteorologist! During this session, we will study the weather, seasons, clouds and water cycle. We will even take a dive into learning about extreme weather conditions! JUNIOR PALEONTOLOGISTS

Join our investigative team as we embark on a journey back through time, to the Land of the Dinosaurs! Prehistoric herbivores and carnivores are the stars of the show as we explore and discover fossils on a Dinosaur Dig, and search for dinosaur eggs and tracks on a scavenger hunt. Our team will sharpen fine motor skills creating dinosaur eggs and colorful arts and crafts, and learn dinosaur types, habits, and fun Dino songs. We will read about dinosaurs under the summer clouds. We close our session with a bang in the form of a safe-but-spectacular erupting volcano!
CREATIVE OUTLETS

This class will be a fun way for students to bring their creative ideas to life using a variety of materials and modalities. Students will generate ideas and work together to plan a design for bringing them to life. Some students will build a prototype, others will write a song or short play, while still others may choose to express their creativity through art by drawing, painting, or sculpting from clay. Students will gain experience with public speaking as they present their creative masterpieces to the class. Join us and let the creative sparks fly!

A BUG’S LIFE

Butterflies, bees and stink bugs, oh my! Join our team of entomologists as we learn about the science of bugs and their life cycles. When not searching for bugs, we will create our own creepy crawlies during arts and crafts and enjoy bug-inspired treats!
AMONG THE STARS

Take a tour of the skies in this class that is literally “Out of this World!” Campers will explore the planets and stars that exist far beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Students will collaborate on hands-on activities and projects covering many topics including stars and constellations, the solar system, lunar phases, comets and asteroids, and much more.

THRILL RIDE

Study force and motion by designing and building a thrill ride that demonstrates Newton’s three laws of motion. Lear about friction, velocity and more. Experiment with free fall, jet straws, roller coasters and other amusement park rides. It’s sure to be an exciting session!
FINANCIAL FACTS OF LIFE
Instructor: Jil Llewellyn
Students will learn all about the math used in everyday life. Topics will help to answer questions such as, “How much is that sweater if it is 35% off? How much tip should I leave my server on this restaurant bill? How much should I be saving for the future? What is interest, and how is it different from compound interest? What is a mortgage? How expensive is college?” And more! Students will have fun and be engaged in learning through multiple mini-projects and activities. It’s time to get educated and start practicing with the math that we will actually be using for the rest of our lives!
EXCITING WRITING

Spark your imagination through creative writing techniques that will make any pencil race across the page! Through this engaging and interactive writing course, campers will bring their words to life and have the opportunity to explore new writing techniques and strategies. All writers are welcome!

Kids can’t wait to get their hands on kaleidoscopes they make themselves. Experiment with mirrors, motion and color filters to bring the science of light to life. Make a Thaumatrope, a Phenakistoscope, and a Zoetrope to learn about the science of animation. Students will also experiment with the Green Screen effect in this fun exploratory class.

Take a seat at the chef’s table and learn the basics of cooking and baking in this fun class! Campers will plan and design meals and treats from a variety of cuisines and learn how to cook for their friends and family. They will experiment with new ingredients, learn how to follow recipes and how to add their own spin on them as well! GROUP GUITAR
Instructor: Preston Sprimont
Summer is the perfect time to pick up a new instrument, or if you already play guitar, to hone your musical skills! Campers in this class will learn the fundamentals of acoustic or electric guitar; explore basic music theory as it relates to guitar; and practice chord shapes, strumming patterns, and basic scales. Campers will be required to bring their own guitar to class and the instructor will also share information about renting an instrument for the two-week session, if preferred. This class is appropriate for guitarists just starting out or early intermediate players. Let’s make great music together!
SHARP SKILLS WITH GOOGLE SHEETS
Instructor: Jil Llewellyn
This interesting and engaging class will teach the basics of Google Sheets application. The class will introduce a variety of concepts for building and editing spreadsheets including data entry, formatting, sharing files, and more! There will be an emphasis on learning the math functions within the application through different projects and activities each day. Students will learn to link websites to a document as when they create a school supply shopping list, create a pixel art template with matching artwork and more! Students will be engaged as they work on their computer while being introduced to software skills they will use throughout school and their careers!
