Four Pegasus alumni who attend Sage Hill School were honored for their high scholastic achievements and community involvement. on May 2 at the Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel.
Maya Jaffe '15, Daniel Fishman '15, Alex Desbans and Joshua Cheadle '15 each received awards during the 58th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner, sponsored by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce. According to Torrey Olins, Director of Communications at Sage Hill School, the Pegasus alumni excelled not only academically, but also made extraordinary contributions to their school.
Jaffe's accomplishments include: the editor in chief of Struck Magazine, Sage’s award-winning art and literary magazine; the debate team (she received the National Speech & Debate Association’s Academic All American award); student ambassador; and, a team member of the girls' cross-country and soccer teams.
Fishman's achievements include: a student ambassador; staff writer for The Bolt Online, an internationally award-winning, student-run news site; team captain for the Varsity baseball team; participant in the 2017 California State Science Fair; and, 2018 intern for the UCI Aerosol Photochemistry Group.
Desbans has served as a student ambassador, a member of various clubs on campus, and team member on the boys' Varsity basketball team.
Cheadle's accomplishments include: 2018 American Legion Boys Nation President; award recipient for outstanding performance as a pretrial attorney in Mock Trial by the Constitutional Rights Foundation (OC) at the UCI Student Center; student ambassador; intern at Second Nature Aquaponics; science and English tutor volunteer at El Sol Science at Arts Academy; and, Sage Hill Alumni Development Endowment.
The Pegasus School is a coed, non-profit, nonsectarian day school in Huntington Beach, California, that serves students in pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. A Pegasus education equips bright, motivated students to achieve future academic success and make a positive impact on society.
