Ryan H. Presents at American Red Cross Headquarters
On November 12, sixth grader Ryan H. presented his digital invention, Wildfire Early-Detection System, to local first responders at the American Red Cross headquarters.
Ryan’s concept helps firefighters detect & prevent devastating wildfires. He met with Gail McGovern, President and CEO of the American Red Cross, and was awarded the Red Cross Medal of Service. The American Red Cross headquarters oversees Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties (11.5 million people).
Last May, Ryan was awarded $10K as the Grand Prize winner of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) 2019 Ignite Innovation Student Challenge. What started off as a science project last year in Mrs. Cooper's science class ignited into an award-winning concept that will be developed into an actual product demonstration for California Fire Authorities and also Southern California Edison. The Red Cross will be assiting Ryan with grants to fund the development and field testing of the product.
