Pegasus Students Speak at Huntington Beach City Council

On the evening of January 20, four Pegasus Algalita elective students (also Pegasus debate students) — Sierra Green (7th), Karen Cho (7th), Conan Lam (8th), Jenna Dyer (8th)— spoke at the City of Huntington Beach City Council meeting to oppose one of the agenda items, the repeal of the City’s Single-Use Carryout Bag Ordinance, adopted by the City in 2013. According to new City Council member, Mike Posey, there has been no proof that the local bag ban has been effective. Despite the loss of the opposition during the city council vote, the students delivered outstanding speeches and articulated their points with incredible poise and leadership! Cho speaks first, beginning at 1:11:23, followed by Green, Lam, and Dyer.

Additionally, a few family members from the Pegasus community also expressed their opinion during minutes 1:04:36 and 1:08:48.

The Pegasus community is very proud of these students for expressing their views so well.
