    Calling all artists in Kindergarten through Second Grades! Come to the art studio and create your own masterpieces! During this drawing and painting class, explore a variety of media, from paint to pastel. Build both realistic drawing skills as well as imaginative and creative expression. Artwork from master artists such as Picasso, van Gogh and Monet will also be introduced to use as inspiration.     Learn how to play basketball and train like a pro! Here is a fun opportunity for boys and girls of all ages to learn the game of basketball. 5-Eleven Hoops classes are led by top basketball trainers, former collegiate and overseas professional basketball players.

    Players learn appropriate fundamental skills, drills and games to expand on the participant’s love of basketball. Participants will learn to develop their individual skills by working on conditioning and agility drills, along with building on fundamental basketball drills; dribbling, shooting, passing, defense, teamwork and discipline.     Be a part of an strings orchestra at Pegasus. The fundamentals of string playing will be introduced in this dynamic new class. Students will receive conservatory quality instruction that will be introduced at age-appropriate levels and pacing.  

    This class is open to beginning violin and cello students and students with less than 1 year experience. No experience necessaryAn  intermediate orchestra may be designed for more experienced players if the interest is presented. Throughout the school year, the orchestra will be exploring classical, fiddle, and movie music. As our orchestra advances, participation in youth orchestra festivals/competitions will be available to interested students.

    Cooking Without the Kitchen will take students on a culinary journey through Europe and on an gourmet adventure with 5 Ingredient Feasts!

    First, students will enjoy delicious and healthy foods as they take a culinary journey through Europe! We will learn to make Italian classics like Pasta Marinara & Italian-Style Chocolate Cookie Crumble, Spanish favorites like Veggie Paella and Tortilla Español, Greek staples such as Humus, Greek Salad and Shish Kabobs and we’ll finish in France with a Ratatouille Stew and Sweet Crepes with Fresh Fruit.

    Next, students will learn to make EASY, simple, healthy AND delicious foods in our fun, interactive cooking classic, 5 Ingredient Feasts. This session features tasty meals using ONLY 5 ingredients. 5 Ingredient Feasts include: Chicken Teriyaki with Veggies, Spinach, Shallots and Feta Brown Rice Pilaf, Breakfast Greek Yogurt Parfaits with Fruit and Homemade Granola, Quick Chocolate Mousse and more!

    Children are economists too! Economics is the study of choices people make to be happy. Children do this everyday when they decide which shirt to wear, which TV show to watch and what to eat for lunch. In Discovering Economics, students will learn about major economic principles through games, real-life examples and team discussions. In doing so, students will better understand the world around them, how business is done and how the economy functions. With a solid foundation of how the world works, children can apply the same reasoning skills to make better, more informed choices.

    Battle Machines
    Join us as we engineer machines that will go head to head in races and jousting battles! Concepts taught include gear ratios, inertia, and traction. We will be using electronics to make the projects come to life and students will face challenges such as our steep slope challenge on our custom rail track and a jousting battle. Students will also have a chance to earn a medal and receive prizes and awards on the final day!

    Renewable Energy
    After we complete our Battle Machines, we’ll move onto Renewable Energy! In this hands-on class, students will use LEGO bricks to harness energy from the wind and sun! Students will learn about renewable energy and engineer projects using solar, wind, and mechanical energy. Concepts taught include generators, gear ratios, and friction. Projects include building a windmill that creates electricity, a hand-crank generator flashlight, and engineering wind and solar powered vehicles.

    Sculpting with clay is a great way to explore colors, shapes, forms, and textures. Oh… and it’s also tons of fun!  In this class students will hone their fine motor skills and express themselves by making a different handheld sculpture each week. Lots of different things are created  from animals to bugs to rocketships, and beyond. The sculptures go home each week in a small protective box. There, they can be baked at low temperature (by an adult!) to permanent hardness  at which point they become an awesome plaything and a great keepsake.

    Students will learn the basic movements, rules and tactics of this Olympic sport. Fencing develops discipline, concentration and coordination. The emphasis in this class is improving form and technique through games and drills. Students will do more bouts as a way of learning tactics and applying their new skills. The class will conclude with electric fencing tournament.

    Coach Ati Seifi is a nationally highest ranked coach, has a M.A in Physical Education & Sport Science, and over 25 years of competitive fencing training and coaching.

    Challenge aspects of your creativity and intellect while learning the basics of engineering and alternative energy sources. Build robots you get to take home every other week and participate in group robotics challenges using a variety of non-take home robot kits including Lego Robotic, K'NEX, and wind and solar projects. Hone your fine motor skills as you build intricate robots in every class! Great for new and returning students. (Take home robots will be different from the fall session of classes.)

    The Vocal Singing Class will focus on teaching your child to sing to the music from many best loved songs from Disney as well as other children's favorites. This vocal class will teach your child how to use their diaphragm to sing with proper technique and to sing correctly. During each class, we will practice proper posture, vocal warm ups, solfege, dancing, music reading, rhythm training, and intonation which is the art of learning to sing in tune.

    My name is Michael Karaba, and I have been teaching children of all ages to learn the joy of making music for a lifetime, and I have been teaching for over 37 years.

    I work with many schools in the Orange County area bringing to each the joy of singing musicals and other showtunes together. Your child will learn to sing his or her favorite selections and will help them to build a repertoire towards auditions and solo performances. Your child will receive a a vocal exercise book and CD as well.
