SEL Mission Statement

The Pegasus School is committed to a community-wide culture of respect where inclusiveness, kindness, integrity, and empathy are deeply valued. Pegasus embraces a framework which prioritizes the social emotional well-being of our students. We are dedicated to fostering a safe and trusting environment for the continual development of self-awareness, social-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Dear Pegasus Community,

We are the counseling support staff at the school, and we are committed to the social/emotional and academic growth of all students.  Through this commitment, we provide a variety of services to students, faculty/staff, and families.  These services include:
  • Short-Term Individual Counseling
  • Short-Term Group Counseling
  • Classroom Lessons on Social and Emotional Learning 
  • Consultation
  • Conflict Mediation
  • Referrals and Resources
Permission and referral forms for counseling can be found on the parent resource page under SEL. This can be accessed by signing in to the parent portal.

Confidentiality Policy

Conversations between the student and counselor are considered confidential.  However, there are exceptions to this confidentiality.  If a counselor has reason to believe that a student is being harmed, neglected, or is a danger to themselves or others, the counselor has the legal, ethical, and professional responsibility to report such concerns to the parents or the appropriate authorities.

The Pegasus School is a coed, non-profit, nonsectarian day school in Huntington Beach, California, that serves students in pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8. A Pegasus education equips bright, motivated students to achieve future academic success and make a positive impact on society.
